Installer cannot update/uninstall

installer cannot detect the size of current install, which cause error with out error code when updating, uninstalling, or modifying.

only uninstall with InstallCleanup (https://learn.microsoft.com/zh-cn/visualstudio/install/uninstall-visual-studio?view=vs-2022#remove) then re-install can modify it.

didn't have such issue before 17.2

Hello, do you mean that the space is showing 0B? Can you describe your issue in details and share us the complete error message?
You can try to remove the Visual Studio Installer folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\Installer. And, re-download the bootstrapper file from the following Microsoft Site and run it as administrator.
https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/downloads/

Then, check if the Visual Studio Installer is fine.

Re-install installer doesn't help much, just uninstalled then re-installed everything and now it works temporarily.
The pop-up when fail doesn't contain any error code but just 'something went wrong' (I don't know what actually it is in English but "很抱歉遇到问题" in Chinese)
Maybe I can share more info when it goes wrong next time.
