Issue with KB5017262 - Cumulative Update Preview for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 for Windows 10

We faced a problem in our WPF application when KB5017262 has been applied on our computers. Our application uses the VirtualizationStackPanel and set the flag IsVirtualizingStackPanel_45Compatible due to performance issues as explained in the post https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/vstudio/en-US/c04c07de-883c-4801-ae24-0dd75f2ffe20/performance-issue-for-virtualizingstackpanel-in-net-461?forum=wpf. The problem occurs when the value in the ListView is changed. For error The stacktrace: ERROR - System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. , you can refer to the solution here for debugging. Did you get this error before applying KB5017262 ? If there is still a problem, could you show detailed steps and complete code that can reproduce the problem?

Hi,
We performed the test several times with and without KB5017262. We always have the same result: the application only crashes with this windows update.
I have a small project to reproduce the problem but I can't attach it to this post. How can I provide it to you?

Hi,

I added in github the exe + exe.config generated on my side. Project is compiled with .NET4.6.1 and executed on .NET4.8.
Here is a screenshot of the execution:

And the set of 'windows update' done on my computer:

When I uninstall the KB5017262, all is fine, there's no crash.

Indeed, it is the same problem. Did you share the logs on the Feedback Hub as suggested by @Limitless Technology ? Unfortunately, I 'm not able to do it due to IT policies.

Has there been any progress/update on this? My customers are seeing the same exception; fixed by removing the updates in question. Since cumulative updates have this fix, it seems like it's a never ending fix.
