Hello everyone.

Context:

  • I have several VMs in the East US Region, this is my main region.
  • I have a Recovery Service Vault in East US, whose function is to perform backups (snapshots) of the VMs in that region.
  • I have a Recovery Service Vault in West US, whose function would be to configure Azure Site Recovery.
  • My plan is that the West US region will be my Disaster Recovery region.

My question: Can one VM be configured to a Recovery Service Vault for backups and another Recovery Service Vault for Site Recovery? Is the definition of the regions for the Recovery Servicer Vault correct?

    Hello @Carlos Solís Salazar

    Thank you for your post.

I would like to assist you on this question made above and I can not deny it is a great one : )

For now, I am going to answer your question down below:

Can one VM be configured to a Recovery Service Vault for backups and another Recovery Service Vault for Site Recovery? Is the definition of the regions for the Recovery Servicer Vault correct?

Answer: Yes, you can do it so on this case scenario, you shall find that on the existing region doing the backup process will have its own recovery vault but for site recovery there will be another Resource group created as well as a new key vault for just site recovery replication procedure.

If you need further details let me know.

    Have a good one!

    Cheers,
