Hi,
Unfortunately, you cannot convert from an evaluation version to a fully licensed version in DPM.
You will have to perform an uninstall and reinstall.

I am a newbie to SCCM and Data Protection Manager, and I have just inherited a system with a DPM 2019 evaluation set up. Problem is that the evaluation expires in 2 weeks, and it hasn’t been properly evaluated. I have no documentation on the setup, and the person that installed it has left the organization.
Could anybody point me in the right direction regards licensing?
It is a single physical DPM server backing up about 50 Hyper-V VMs from another site. SQL Enterprise 2019 Evaluation is installed, and that expires on the same day.
I can’t see in DPM where to enter a license, or in fact, what license I actually need. Is it linked to the SQL license? Is there any way of extending this evaluation period?
I have spent an age going around in circles on Microsoft’s website, but I still haven’t found the answer I am looking for.

Hello,
The process if very straight forward but escapes the usual process for other products. Once you install DPM:
-To view DPM licenses
Before you create the first protection group, in DPM Administrator Console, click Protection on the navigation bar.
In the Actions pane, click Update DPM licenses.
-To update the number of agent licenses
In DPM Administrator Console, click Management on the navigation bar, and then click the Agents tab.
In the Actions pane, click Update DPM Licenses.
In the Update DPM Licenses dialog box, type the total number of standard licenses and enterprise licenses that you have purchased.
Click OK.

Thanks, both answers are very helpful.
So the protection groups have been added. There are about 50 VMs set up in there. But as i mentioned, it hasn't really been evaluated yet - just set up and left.
So judging by the above, my only real option is to nuke it and start again? Either as another another evaluation or with a licence?
Currently, it is a physical server, with all data being stored on 2 large local disks. Is there anyway I can retain the data on these disks? Or will i have to start each backup from scratch? Our bandwidth is not amazing, and would take a few weeks to sync everything up again.
