Can some one also share if they have already created any automation to perform the installation on multiple Linux VMs.

Thank you for asking this question on the **Microsoft Q&A Platform. **

It will depend on some details of the location of the VMs.

If the Linux VMs are in Azure, from the Azure Site Recovery portal you can add all VMs.

If the Linux VMs are on-premises and your replication environment is with VMware, from the Azure Site Recovery portal where you discover the VMs of your Center, you can add the VMs (previously you had to add the Linux credential in your Replication server)

If the Linux VMs are on-premises and your replication environment is with physical servers, you have to add the IP (the Azure site recovery) and VMs credentials (In your replication server).

@Carlos Solís Salazar Yes in POC we followed the push mobility agent which requires the VM credentials must be added in advance in replication appliance and it will take care the mobility service installation on source VMs.

Now, we want to do the installation on our own, so we want to eliminate adding the root credentials in replication appliance. The problem is I am not able to get the installation packages for Linux is it located somewhere in the appliance can you please suggest.

Hi @Anjul Awasthi

When you configure the Appliance to work with VMware you won't have the installation packages for Linux (or any OS) in the Appliance.

The best way to add the agents manually is configuring a new appliance but for on-premises physical servers in this new server you will be able to find the Mobility service agent

Hi @Carlos Solís Salazar , but as this generates condig.json file to specific source VM to register with appliance so I am thinking the automation using this is going to be tricky. In our case we have 1500+ Linux VMs which need to be on-boarded.

The copy of installer and installation can be done on bulk VMs.

The registration part, how it can be automated I am not getting any directions.

Any help would be much appreciated!

This a more Bash/SSH expertise, but, if you can upload the Microsoft-ASR_UA_version_LinuxVersion_GA_date_release.tar.gz and config.json you can run a remote script with these commands:

cd /tmp ; tar -xvf Microsoft-ASR_UA_version_LinuxVersion_GA_date_release.tar.gz ./install -q -r MS -v VmWare -c CSPrime <InstallLocation>/Vx/bin/UnifiedAgentConfigurator.sh -c CSPrime -S config.json -q

Of course, you must adjust the parameters of your infrastructure.

Hi @soysoliscarlosThanks, but this config.json has to be generated from the appliance for each individual VMs, and then the same config.json file must be used for the target server which does the configuration part. To me this looks a stretched piece.
