Where to update the payment method for an Azure tenant used only for Azure Active Directory without a subscription?

Hi,

Where can I update the payment method for an Azure tenant which doesn't have any subscription, but is used for Azure Active Directory use only?

Thank you for your post!

If you have a payment method set within your tenant, you can Add, update, or delete a payment method within Cost Management + Billing.

Edit credit card details:

Sign in to the Azure portal as the Account Administrator.

Search for Cost Management + Billing.

Select Payment methods.

Select the credit card that you'd like to edit.

Update the credit card details.

Select Next.
Note: Please keep in mind that Azure doesn't support virtual or prepaid cards. Credit cards are accepted and debit cards are accepted by most countries or regions.

Thanks for the answer, James. However, there is no subscription on Azure portal for this tenant. There is only an Azure active directory.

When it comes to updating your payment method, since you don't have any subscriptions associated with your Azure AD tenant, can you share some more info so I can gain a better understanding of your issue?

Can you share why you're trying to update your payment method - are you receiving notifications or is this for Azure AD licensing?

Have you ever added a payment method to your tenant?

Any additional information would be greatly appreciated!

Hello James,

Thanks for the reply. I am redirected to M365 admin center for billing, but it shows me that I can't access it, even though I am a billing admin when I check Azure portal, for the tenant in question. What role assignment would I need to be able to update payment method in the M365 admin center?

When it comes to updating the payment method in the M365 admin center, from our Microsoft 365 - Manage payment methods documentation, you should be able to access the billing page with a Global Admin or Billing admin role.

Please note that if you've never added a payment method within Azure, and your tenant is only being used for Azure Active Directory, you'll first have to add a payment method. However, to gain a better understanding of your issue can you share why you're trying to update your payment method - are you receiving notifications?

I've also reached out to our Cost management team to see if they can take a look into this issue as well.

Hello @JamesTran-MSFT , Will we be still able to add multiple credit card from different region . If we have India region and we have two management group Named US_MGMT and IND_MGMT . And we need to add US credit card in US management group and INDIA credit card for IND_MGMT group. IS this possible.!! TIA
