AD group displays as long guid that starts with "obj:" when adding to Azure Analysis Services

I am trying to add a local domain security group to an azure analysis services instance as a Server Administrator. The group is synced with Azure AD and I am able to search for it by name and add it. When I attempt to add the group via the Azure Management interface to Azure Analysis Services Admins I am able to search and select the group and click Add but after clicking add the window closes and nothing changes on the permissions. I am able to add the group via SSMS but it displays as a long guid that starts with "obj:". The users of the group are granted permissions and are able to connect and manage the instance but having the group display like this is an auditing nightmare. My company is new to using azure services so everything has been a learning experience so far. Any help is greatly appreciated!

The format corresponds to obj:groupid@tenantid. You can get more information about the group using the MS Graph Get group operation.
