Search is broken for Linux native app 1.3 in stable and insiders. It seems that it gets fewer results with a partial match than with an exact one. Example: searching for journal brings all matches of journal and 3 matches for journalctl. Searching for journalctl brings 18 matches for that word. Web and android apps behave normally, i.e. I am getting all matches for journal and journalctl when searching for journal.

    Hi AlexanderLitvak-7536!
What is your Linux operating System?
Does anyone else have the same issue?
Doe this issue persist all the time?
How did you search native app in Linux?
Indeed, this issue phenomenon does not meet the expected results of the query. You can try to use another search tools to see if this issue still persist.
Besides,I also found a related to case for your reference:

I am using OpenSuse Leap 15.1 and Mint 19.3 I am not sure if anyone else has the issue, I am reporting on what I see. The issue persists.

I believe I explained how I searched and I see you providing similar example of Coveo. I am not sure what Coveo has to do with MS Teams, perhaps they use the same search engine? As I explained before the problem for me appears only on my Linux desktops. Everything works fine for windows and android clients.

I am looking for the word squid and it doesn't show anything on linux, but in the web browser it shows 4 results which is correct.
