how to recover overwritten word document

hi i accidentali overwritten a word document and i don't know how to revers it. I try to recover from file properties and nothing, or from word or from temporari files. i have auto-backup on and system protection on. sorry for my english

If the document has been saved to OneDrive, try the Version History feature.

By the way, which version of Office are you running and under which operating system?

For a local document, you are probably out of luck, unless you enabled the "Always create backup copy" option in File > Options > Advanced (applies to Windows versions, at least).

File was not save to OneDrive.

I use office 2019 and windows 10pro and I could not recover the contents of the file and i did not have the option with "Always create backup copy". Thanks for help!

There's nothing to figure out. Over-writing a file on your local hard disk destroys the previous version.

To prevent this in the future, choose Save As instead of Save and alter the name slightly for each. Then, when the document is complete, delete the intermediate saves.
