add printer to windows server

Hi All

i have a printer and i want to add it to a windows server. and this is a virtual machine. i am unable to add the printer on the windows server. What port needs to be allowed on the network side for the printer to connect to the windows server

    1. What is the meaning of adding a printer to the server? Either sharing the printer to the server or the server is with printer server role and adding printers.

    2. As far as I know, The spooler requires the same ports as required for File sharing when the clients communicate with the print server(the machine with shared printer and conduct printer job). According to the blog, TCP ports 139 and 445, and UDP ports 137 and 138 are requried.
