Hi,

As I started having HDD problems I decided to go for a complete reinstall of my WHS2011 which had been running since 2002.

I replaced the HDD with a SSD and started the process . I kept the server's name unchanged I went throught approx. 200 updates and ended up with .... only half of the original functions :

  • Server backup service is OK
  • Client connection OK

BUT

  1. All clients backup are failing
  2. Configuring domain's name fails
  3. A number of issues with the alets/warning messages displayed in the dashboard

1 is obviously the most crucial problem ; each time I try to backup a client I get the fwg message :

"- System

  • Provider [ Name] Windows Server
  • EventID 269 [ Qualifiers] 53247 Level 2 Task 1 Keywords 0x80000000000000
  • TimeCreated [ SystemTime] 2020-12-27T08:58:29.000000000Z EventRecordID 66 Channel WSSG Computer 33-BIGAUDES Security
    • EventData
    ultime2-1
    5 "

I've little (if any) knowledge on server matters and I would appreciate any help.

Regards

Francois

    Hi,
Please check if there’s any related event ID in clients, if yes, please provide the detailed error information.
Please run Vssadmin list writer both on your WHS and clients and check if there is any error.
Please try to run chkdsk /f /r for the disk.
Please check if the backup path has changed after we change the drive.
I found a similar thread in the following link and I hope it can give you some inspirations:

    Thanks for your time!
    Best Regards,

Thanks for taking the time to look at my problem . I run the VssAdlin instructions : no error.
I kept looking for a solution and I discovered a thread suggesting that such a problem had occured while trying to backup EFI drives with the original WHS2011.
WHS was designed for MBR disks ; when EFI disks appeared a patch was issued by MS to cover this type of drives ; but this patch has not been downloaded with the approx 200 updates which came when I updated my WHS2011 after reinstall. Actually this patch doesn't even appear in the MS Update catalog . It took me a while to find and download it from an obscure site. I downloaded it , installed it and things seem to be OK : the 1st backup is progressing (45% by now).
    Thanks again for your assistance
