MS Office 2016 Pro Plus slow on Windows Server STD 2016

Hi everyone,

I have a problem at one of my users.
I have set up a Windows Terminal server where cca 30 users work and they use Office apps, Word, Excel, etc. For the last few months users are experiencing slow response from Excel when working in data sheets(.xlsx are complicated and have many formulas in background), Word documents open slowly. Outlook also giving message "Not responding". User has Office 365 Exchange Online.
This is what i tried so far:
Created a new user profile for one user and copied all the data. ->Still working slowly.
Modifyied ESET File Security on Server. ->Still working slowly.
Uninstalled ESET. ->Still working slowly.
Disabled Fair share.->Still working slowly.
OS and Office updated. ->Still working slowly.
Turned off Add-ins. ->Still working slowly.
Office repair -> Still working slowly.
Eventvwr.msc no alerts.
Taskmanager and performance monitor OK.

Server in question is a virtual machine on Hyper-V. It has 20 vCPU, 52GB RAM and .vhdx is on SAS 12k and SSD on HOST server.
Task manager is always on 10% CPU and RAM on 50%.

Does anyone have any idea or suggestions?

    From the perspective of Office, please check the below.
    Apart from Office applications, does the slow performance occur on other applications on the Windows Server?

    Do you have plugin like AVG, Cloudmark installed on the server?
    Please temporarily disable it to see if issue in Outlook still exists.

    << How did you turn off add-ins? What add-ins have been turned off?

    Please open an Office application, go to File>Options>Advanced>Display, then check the option Disable hardware graphics acceleration.

    You could also try to open Office applications in safe mode to eliminate interference from add-ins and startup items.
    Take Excel as an example, if nothing is wrong when opening Excel in safe mode:

    • Move the files in C:\Users\<User Name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART to other location temporarily, then check if the issue still exists.
    • If it doesn't work, go to File>Options>Add-Ins. Towards the bottom of the window, where it says Manage, click the Go button. In the dialog box, uncheck the add-ins to disable them.

    Besides, is there any third-party software installed on the server?
    If there is, please uninstall it to check this issue.

    What's more, do you have other version of Office?
    Please try to uninstall the original version of Office and then install a different version.
    If issues still occur after installing another version of Office, maybe there is something wrong with the Server or other aspects.

    Hi erinding-msft,

    it looks that disableing hardware acceleration has helped with Excel and Word. Still testing but looks good for now.
    will post new info if there are any changes.
