I've been told that my version for windows 10 (1909) will soon be out of date... but it won't let me update to 20H2, I think this is because I have Conexant array speakers and mic... has a workaround been found for this yet?

The Microsoft guidance says that the May and October 20 updates are not compatible with the Conexant drivers and so the option to update the software is not available until the problem is resolved. The implication is that Microsoft is working with the suppliers to sort this... The guidance says that we should not try to update until this problem is resolved, hence the question about a workaround.
Sounds good, the hardware manufacturer will be your best resource for a resolution.

To mitigate the safeguard, you might need to check with your device manufacturer (OEM) to see if an updated driver is available and install it.
I recommend that you follow the guidance and avoid updates before the solution appears, so as not to cause problems.

Sorry for the delay- problems logging in.
Reading around, some uninstalled the Conexant driver, installed windows update and then re-installed the Conexant driver. And all is working fine. However, I read of others who’ve forced the update and had frequent crashes/blue screen problems, so I’m nervous about doing that. I’m very dependent on my computer for work. My laptop is only 18 months old, so it’s not a problem caused by the age of the machine
If I look at the Conexant properties, it tells me that the drivers are up to date, but if I go online there have been several updates to the drivers, but they may not be compatible with 1909
So, as you suggest, I'd sort of decided to wait, but I occasionally get warnings from windows telling me that soon my 1909 version will no longer be supported... hence why I asked the question on this site.

Microsoft does not do driver development, the hardware manufacturer's do it and then pass them on to microsoft. So I'd check with the pc or mobo or hardware manufacturer for updates.

Thanks... there are updates for the Conexant driver, but with the 1909 system, it tells me that the drivers are up to date and does not give me the option to update them. I suspect that if did try to update them manually, then it would cause problems as they would not be compatible with 1909.
Hence why I think Microsoft is saying they are looking for a workaround. That's fine if they are, but my system is now warning that 1909 will not be supported for much longer. The laptop is a reasonable quality machine that's only 18 months old, so this is not a problem because of old hardware.
The burden is on the pc or mobo or hardware manufacturer to provide driver updates so I'd contact them directly to find out if they plan to support the operating system you want to install.

The hardware manufacturers have provided the necessary drivers... there are further driver updates for Conexant, and reportedly these are working OK AFTER 2004 and 20H2 have been installed. However, these driver updates won't install whilst I'm running 1909.
Reading around various comments posted in different places, it seems that the problem is with the 2004 and 20H2 update, which is provided by Microsoft. AND Microsoft have supposedly said they are working to resolve the issue.
If they aren't, then that would be good to know and I'll have to stop waiting and have to take the risk of some of the workarounds that have been advocated.
