Doing windows 10 updates for the last 3 months. Seemed kinda strange how it was going on. So I backed tracked to 2020. Did a new install on a I7-8600 and Z370 chipset. And when I did the update all I got was the 2021/01 monthly updates. No 2021/02. And the 2021/03 was listed as optional. Very confusing. What is going on????????????????????????????????????

Don’t worry, for Windows update, the later updates will include all contents of previous updates, so install the latest update and SSU is enough.
For your device, just check for updates until your system is up to date, don’t need to care which update is installed and which is not.
Go to this website to check the latest build number, for 20H2 version, it’s March 18, 2021—KB5001649 (OS Builds 19041.870 and 19042.870)

I did a rebuild from scratch and came up with version 19042.867. So it appears the out of bounds update posted above is not mandatory? But what is really jaw dropping is that the new rebuild stops with January cumulative update KB4023057. Meanwhile all my other machines have some bogus cumulative updates from February (KB4601319) and March (KB 5000802). I can see one month of retractions for updates but here we have two? What happened? Testing and quality control is supposed to take place within the company and NOT WITH YOUR CLIENTS.
