Quick Access Timeout UNC

Hi all!

We have a lot of notebooks. All are working really fine, if they are in the local company LAN. Cause of security reasons, the users can not access any fileshare when they are connected via VPN.

So they have no access to UNC Pathes or Mapped Network drives. We have the behaviour of e.g. explorer or office apps, when they want to reach one of these locations by recent items or quick access. This causes always a time out and the program does not respond for 30-60 seconds.

Is there a solution for that, like disabling the network drive / UNC Access when they are not in the company LAN?

Thanks
Micha

    Hi,
Here is a method for your reference:
We can configure the policy as following to filter the user not apply the mapping drive policy when connect through the VPN.

Or if the computers use different ip address when at the VPN, you can also use the following item to filter:
    81009-3244.jpg

Then ,when you connect to the vpn ,the mapping drive policy will not apply. Mapping drives will not display for the users.

    Hi!

Thank you for your answer. But the problem is not the availability of the network drive itself, the problem is the timeout of the programs because of trying to access a not available drive or UNC Path, which will be tried cause of Quick-Access Links in the explorer or in the task list of recent files.....

    Thank you
    Micha

    Hi!

I have just tested. The problem still exists. Whenever i put any non available server as target in the run box and type an UNC-Path like \naserver it always needs about 20 seconds to get an respond that the server is not available. Can i reduce this time? UNC Paths are all not available except the sysvol and netlogon share from domain controller....

    Thanks
    Micha
