Hello,

I have been trying to install updates to Windows 10 for a couple of months with no success. Apparently a lot of other Microsoft customers are haveing the same problem. They fail to install with error code 0x800f0830. I've researched several forums and carried out suggested "fixes" with no luck. These include running the troubleshooter, deleting files from Software Distribution, turning BITS, wuauserv and crypt svc off and on. None of these suggestions make it possible to download the missing updates. Does any Microsoft professional understand what is causing error code 0x800f0830 and know how to resolve it? Any assistance that is understandable to average users and works would be greatly appreciated. Dr. RS

    Hi Castorix31,

I failed to include that but yes, I have tried that. I don't recall the specifics of the error messages I received, but I was unable to install them manually and individually. The system acted as though the updates were being installed, but after a few minutes I got error messages and the installations halted. The same thing happens when I try to update Windows 10 or upgrade it (I suppose to version 20H2). After a long wait, the upgrade fails. My impression is that I am trying to install updates that are intended for another system, but that is only a guess. These updates are for a system that is at version 1909. "Relver" shows that I am using this version. The oldest update is October, 2020 (Security Update for Adobe Flash Player KB4580325). Three others are for January, February and March. Installation for all of them fails with the same error code, 0x800f0830.

This has been incredibly frustrating. I can tell that there are many other Microsoft Windows 10 users who are experiencing the same issue. As a former IBM systems engineering and marketing manager, I would think that Microsoft would have a professional who is familiar with this problem and knows how to fix it. If so, I hope they read this forum. Some of the suggestions are incredibly involved and people who try them report that they do not work.

Thanks for your suggestion, Castorix31. I appreciate your time and thoughts. Take care and stay safe. Dr.RS
