UDP Traffic through Windows Proxy / VPN

Dear All,

I have a proxy device barracuda. Configured proxy on windows to have all internet traffic go through the proxy. However i notice when i use zoom meetings. The stream is not going through proxy, when doing a wireshark capture i can see the udp traffic going directly and not through the proxy.

I thought the issue was proxy related, so we have our vpn (cisco anyconnect vpn client) i enabled and monitored the traffic, i can notice same. The udp traffic is not flowing through the VPN and going directly. So this leads me to believe the issue is windows related.

Any ideas how i can have these traffic flow through proxy or VPN?

    Thanks for posting in Q&A platform.

    Please understand, due to environmental limitation, we do not have such proxy device and cisco VPN client to test in our lab. It is hard for us to reproduce and analyze this issue from Q&A platform support level. And for your issue, it would be better to collect network traffics from both Windows client and proxy server side simultaneously for further troubleshooting. However, analysis of network traffic is beyond of our forum support level.

    If your issue is urgent, I would suggest you open a case with Microsoft where more in-depth investigation can be done so that you would get a more satisfying explanation and solution to this issue.

    Also, in this way ,they can have a clear picture about your issue and your environment by phone communication and live share session.

    Hello @Travis Laira ,

    Historically, web traffic was transported using the HTTP/1.1 and HTTP/2 protocols over the TCP protocol using ports 80 and 443. Currently an increasing amount of web traffic is being transported via HTTP/3 which uses UDP instead of TCP. The "Developer Tools" in Microsoft Edge currently report the protocol as something like "h3-29" (HTTP/3 draft 29, newest draft is draft 34) on the "Network" tab.

    Since you mention "UDP" in your message, I would guess that what you are observing is a failure to proxy HTTP/3 traffic - you will have to consider yourself what possibilities that you have given your network equipment and goals. One option might be to just disable HTTP/3.

    The HTTP/3 traffic will obey the IP routing rules, just like all other IP traffic. If your routing tables direct all traffic (including that for Internet sites) through a VPN connection then the HTTP/3 traffic will go that way too.
