Hello

I will will migrate shift and lift from 1 hyper-v to azure.

I have 1 vm on my onprime has SQL installed with Core base license.

when i migrate this machines which has sql installed shall i configure sql hybrid benfit?

How Azure will know i have SQL installed on that machine after migration?

Are there any extera task needed after the migration?

    – Yes, currently you will have to do this manually. Please follow this article - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-sql/virtual-machines/windows/sql-vm-resource-provider-register?tabs=azure-cli%2Cbash

    How Azure will know i have SQL installed on that machine after migration?
    – Azure Migrate tool is agnostic to the software running on the server. You can “Test Migrate” a server which will create a test VM in Azure where you can verify the sanctity of the migrated server.

    Are there any extra task needed after the migration?

    If i migrate my SQL server to Azure it is mandatory to use Hybrid with the above steps?

    Enabling hybrid is not mandatory but this is the published guidance for enabling hybrid benefit for SQL. We do have this feature in the road map where we can automatically apply hybrid benefit for SQL, similar to how we do for Windows licenses currently.
