Screensharing not working in the official MS Teams for Linux

Since sometime last week, screensharing in MSTeams for Linux has stopped working.

I'm on Ubuntu 20.04 with the official install of MS Teams. During a call, the screenshare button is visible but doesn't do anything.

Any ideas?

Problem solved - Administrators have two settings for Guest accounts/users; "Single App" or "Whole Screen" sharing.

It was set to "Single App" which seemed to break screen sharing in Linux Teams entirely. They have now changed to whole screen and it is fixed!

    Hi Paul!

Does this issue persist all the time?

Are there any error messages when you click screenshare button?

In this case, we recommend you try to clear Teams cache and restart your client to see if it can be fixed.

If there is no luck, you can also try to reinstall Teams client to see if it works for you.

I did a test in my environment (Ubuntu 18.04) and it can share desktop normally, but we cannot see mouse pointer in the screen (it is a known issue). And I will also do a test in Ubuntu 20.04 to see if we can reproduce this issue and give a feedback to you.

I have Ubuntu 20.04 and the same problem described by author.
First section about "Screen Sharing: X11 Revival" helped me in 100% :)

    Thanks Jimmy and Michael,

Clearing cache doesn't help but I should note that I'm using a guest account to work with a client. Could that cause the issue? I am able to share screens when using my windows PC.

I'll try a reinstall and let you know if that helps.
