Hi...
I really don't know what the red script icon is (as in error) next to my instance name. Can anyone explain the meaning?

Off the top of my head I'm guessing something related to a policy issue that is configured for the server. The DB icon shows the state of the server itself (and any WMI errors) so I believe the server itself is fine but there is a problem with something else. When you mouse over it does it show anything useful? Have you looked in your SQL Server error logs to see if it is showing errors?

    Hi,

    The icon shows policy violation.

For failed policies, Object Explorer indicates a critical health warning as a red icon next to the target and the nodes that are higher in the Object Explorer tree.
