Manual failover to DR site

Having a primary and DR site with 2 nodes each and a quorum on a NAS accessible only from my primary site, can I set things up the way so if both my primary sites nodes fail I can manually fail over to my DR site. As for storage there will be nightly replication to storage accessible from the DR site and I'm not too concerned that data won't be fully replicated. This is more about bringing an application back online rather than having all data in sync.

    Hi,

Do you mean you want to disable automatic failover between the primary site and the DR site, instead, you want to do manual failover?

If yes, we may set the cluster role's possible node to be nodes only on the Primary site:

When the Primary site is down, we may set the cluster role's possible owner to be nodes on the DR site manually, and then try to online the cluster role.

    Thanks for your time!
    Best Regards,
    Anne

    Hi,

Yes, the DR site nodes can join the Primary site, they are one cluster, and we can use one witness, that both primary site and the DR site can access the witness. They are in one cluster, in this way, we can set the possible nodes both on Primary site and the DR site. When the Primary site down, we go to DR site to change the possible nodes.

    Thanks for your time!

Yes, that's my intention. So from what I see I can still add the DR nodes to same cluster and as you suggested when needed just change the possible owners. I take it the DR site can have it's own quorum witness then. Is that right?

Thanks but problem is DR site nodes won't have access to storage where quorum partition for primary site will be kept. Is it possible to have separate quorum partition for DR?
