Hi,

I know Hyper-V is the part of Windows Sever and it can be added as Roles and Features through Server Manager.

Apart from this, Hyper-V iso can also be downloaded from the link https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/evaluate-hyper-v-server-2019

I downloaded and installed Hyper-V iso. After installation, it looks like Windows Server Core as below

To work properly, I would like to convert it into GUI and I tried to search at Google.

I found two ways;
installing Install-WindowsFeature -Name Server-Gui-Shell, Server-Gui-Mgmt-Infra with PowerShell and
using Install.wim.

In case of Install.wim, I don’t know which is my CD drive.

Moreover, it is connected with Internet but I don’t know how to be assured. Only I can see IP address.

Please help me and elaborate so that I can use it in GUI mode.

I’ll be thankful for giving time.

With Regards
NndnG

    The free hypervisor here has no gui

    If you wanted a GUI you'll need to install this one with the Desktop Experience

    Hi,
    I downloaded Hyper-V Server 2019 iso and install it in my lab, and I got the same result just like you.
    85150-hyper-v-server-2019.png

    After research, it seems we are unable to add GUI to Hyper V 2019 image.

    If you want to use Hyper V manager GUI, I suggest that you use Windows Server 2019 iso instead, another option is to use a Server 2019 or windows 10 machine that installing Hyper V role to manage the Hyper V server remotely.

    Here’re some references for remote management:

    @Dave Patrick and @Yuhan Deng thank you for giving time and explaining.

    As you explained and found, the free hypervisor has no GUI and for using Hyper-V with GUI, we have to use Windows Server.

    Do I need to add and configure roles like AD, DNS or DHCP, if we’re using Windows Server only for Hyper-V?

    If I am right, for working with free hypervisor like Hyper-V iso, we have to work only with PowerShell.
    If any references that can explain, how to do all tasks with free hypervisor using PowerShell, please share.

    Hyper-V can be added in Windows 10 also. How Windows 10 Hyper-V is different than Windows Server Hyper-V?

    Please help me to understand all above queries.

    With Regards
    NndnG

    No, not required

    for working with free hypervisor like Hyper-V iso, we have to work only with PowerShell.

    another option here to remote manage it https://timothygruber.com/hyper-v-2/remotely-managing-hyper-v-server-in-a-workgroup-or-non-domain/
