Hello,
We are on sharepoint server 2019, and we have sharepoint designer 2010 and sharepoint designer 2013 workflows.
We will be migrating to office 365 in the future.
Will the workflows work when we migrate to office 365?
What is the best way to plan for workflows if we migrate to office 365?
Thanks.

SharePoint 2010 workflows are not available in SharePoint Online. I would expect SharePoint 2013 workflows to not be available in SPO within the next 1 - 2 years.

As part of your migration, now would be a good time to transition to Power Automate and/or Azure LogicApps.

Workflows generally do not migrate as URLs change requiring you to fix-up your workflow.

So, power automate works in Sharepoint on-prem environment? Do we need office 365 licenses for that to work?

    Hello @Kummari, Rani ,

SharePoint 2010 workflow has been retired in 2020 for SharePoint Online. Although SharePoint Online still provides support for SharePoint 2013 workflow, it may be retired in the next 1-2 years.

Today you are not able to migrate exiting SharePoint 2010 workflows to newly created Office 365 tenant. After the final deadline set by Microsoft, you will not be able to migrate them to any Office 365 environment. Sooner or later It will be also impossible to migrate SharePoint 2013 workflows to Office 365.

We recommend customers move to Power Automate. You need Power Automate license to support its work.

You can refer to this article for more information about Microsoft Power Automate.

    Thanks,
    Echo Du

Please confirm Yes or No on (1).
    (1) Any sharepoint designer 2010/sharepoint designer 2013/visual studio workflow has to be converted to power automate if we are migrating to office 365 before migration as those workflows wont work after migration. Yes or No

    (2) Do we need office 365 licenses to use the already created power automate flow? (I know that for creating on-premises gateway and creating power automate flow we need licensing). In our company about 75% of users only have office 365 basic/adv licensing that is the reason we are with on-prem sharepoint environment. I'm thinking about the rest of the 25% users, will the power automate work for them?
