Azure service bus: can't receive session messages

in the session queue's Service Bus Explorer (preview), 4 active message was shown in stats, but when i tried to get them in receive tab, it seems like the receiving process stuck, and nothing came back after half a hour.
when i tried to receive messages by python code, the code stuck on receiver creation statement

@Mu Xu Can you share the screenshot of the service bus explorer that shows that there are 4 active messages along with the log of service bus explorer when you tried to receive the message? Did you see the same number of active messages from the Azure portal? If there is no active message for the session receiver then you will see a timeout error in the service bus explorer log.

I got why my python stock on creating receiver, the vs2019's python debugger halted the code, if i use vscode with python extension, the code ran without problem

so the issue here is only why receive tab in service bus explorer couldn't get message from session enabled queue, I got the number of active messages from Azure portal.

when i tried to use receive tab, it never finished like this

@Mu Xu Thanks for sharing the details and reporting the issue. Service Bus Explorer is still in preview in the Azure portal and I will reach out to my team to fix this as the messages are not retrieved for the session enabled queue/subscription using portal service bus explorer.
You can always use service bus explorer or custom code to retrieve messages from session enabled entities.

@Edson I don't see any issue with service bus explore to receive the messages from session. You can first click on Sessions to get all the available session for the entity and use that session while receiving the message using Messages option.
For the portal issue I will check with my team as session enabled queue peeking was not supported from azure portal but I double check on this. If you still facing any issue with service bus explorer please create a new Q&A form and tag me and share the details on which option you are using to peek the messages so I can assist you further.
