What happens if you select NO for the Warning - Overwrite the existing SMTP certificate?

I renewed an SSL Certificate on an Exchange 2016 server. After importing the certificate, I went on to assign services to it. I selected SMTP, IMAP, POP, and IIS. When I clicked to save a Warning pop-up. I could not take a screenshot at that time but I found a similar warning on the internet. I selected NO.
In my case, the default STMP certificate expires on the 17th of June 2020. So will the new certificate automatically become the default, ones the old one expires or should I do it manually? If so how?
