I am retired and just bought the top of the range Surface Laptop i7 three years ago. Now Windows 11 is being touted by Microsoft and when I run the PC Health Check, it says my laptop is not compatible? With 16GB memory and Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7660U CPU @ 2.50GHz how come it is not compatible. Does that mean my investment is just a waste?

I have an i7-7660U which has TPM2.0 enabled - so that's not the issue :-)

This is odd, Microsoft need to pull their finger out and address. I too have the Intel Core i7 7660U with Trusted Platform. On Microsoft's downloadable PC Health Check software which has an integrated check routine for Windows 11 compatibility, the results are shown with everything but the processor having a green tick. Many lower spec processors with lower clocks are listed as being compatible. This is a shambles.

    Hi @Vijaya Vasudevan ,

Microsoft has confirmed that Windows 11 will only officially support 8th Gen and newer Intel Core processors, most likely because they have an integrated TPM (Trusted Platform Module) chip.

Please also note that Windows 11 is currently not supported in the Q&A forums, the supported products are listed over here https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/products.

@James S. Brown But you have maybe seen that Microsoft locks you out from any Security and Update Patch if you do a manually upgrade to W11. This is deeply a lack of trust in the (previous) customer purchasing Microsoft products....

I have same issue. Moved from MAC to full spec surface pro. Meets all requirement except I7 CPU. This is extremely disappointing. Not even 5 years old and it's already not compatible by their own OS. Might consider switching back to MAC.
