Is it possible to run Mobile Hotspot on a Virtual Machine with Windows 10?

I have heard conflicting reports and rumors about if it's possible to run a mobile hotspot on a virtual machine running Windows 10. If it is possible, then is there any additional steps I would need to take besides the usual steps taken running mobile hotspot on Windows 10?

    It is possible to create a Wi-Fi hotpost within a virtual box VM by using an external USB dongle. This method allows the VM to create Wi-Fi hotspot which can share the internet connection of the host.
