I just installed the Catalina OS (10.15.6) from Apple. Suddenly all my Excel worksheets are displaying as a mirror image of what was previously saved prior to the new OS. I don't know how to change them. Also, I started a new worksheet and it also displayed as a mirror image once I had saved it, closed it, and then reopened it.

None of that worked for me. I saved it as xls, not xlsx, and all back to normal.
You can set this as default in preferences.

I don't know why this works, but it worked for me, using Excel on a MacBook. Open the spreadsheet. Scroll up to the top and then scroll down to the bottom, or at least down a good way. Then scroll back to the top. The spreadsheet should be properly oriented.

This absolutely works. I went down to about 10k pages and then back up and mine was fine. I noticed around 2k they flipped back normal. BTW, I dont think you can ever reach the bottom. I see people recommend scrolling to the bottom. i was scrolling for 5 minutes and said wait, this is ridiculous, its fixed. haha
I'd check Page Layout\Sheet Options\Sheet right to left Then also check File\Options\Advanced\Display\Default direction setting

I tried your suggestions. I think the Apple version of Excel is a little different than yours. I could go to Page Layout and I found Sheet Options, but I could not find Sheet right to left. I could not find Options under file nor anything else that seemed similar to your directions. Thank you for trying to help.
I ended up paying to upgrade to a newer version of Microsoft Office for Mac. That solved the problem. Thank you again for trying to help.

I found the issue in the printer set up. I went to layout and deselected 'Flip Horizontally'
