Teams Blank Screen on Chat (Linux)

Just today, I got an issue with the Teams client blanking my chat. The blank screen happens for all chats, regardless of which one I select.

The Teams feature still works fine. The chats also appear on my Android client, but not on the Linux client.

I've tried killing the process, and also to log out and back in again, but to no avail. It's just blank. Is this related to the new W11 update where you have two separate Teams applications for chat and teams for some reason?

Hi,
exactly the same problem here, running 1.3.00.958 on debian bookworm. I cannot try a newer teams version, it gives me just white blank windows.
I haven't used teams for the last 2 weeks so I cannot say when it broke down.

It should have no correlation.
I check in Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS with Microsoft Team version 1.4.00.26453(64.bit). It has no such problem. So, it is suggested to remove the client cache with this command: rm -r ~/.config/Microsoft/Microsoft\ Teams.

Meanwhile, make sure your client version is the latest one.

Updating Teams fixed it for me. I was on 1.3, upgrading to 1.4, which is work/school/business specific seems to fix it for me.

Same problem with 1.5.00.23861 (64-bit).
Interestingly, it happens now and then, but not every time.

Cache removal helped. Thank you for providing a solution.

Hello,
exactly the same problem here, running teams-1.3.00.30857-1 and also teams-1.4.00.13653-1 on SuSE Linux. it gives me just white blank windows, and when exiting a smaller purple blank window.
The log shows:
Error while parsing hooks JSON. Error: "ENOENT: no such file or directory, open '/home/username/.config/Microsoft/Microsoft Teams/hooks.json'"
hooks.json does not exist in the Teams path.

I installed the latest version, which seems to be working teams-1.4.00.26453-1

I created the hooks.json outlined in the form.
contents: {“enableProcessIntegrityLevel”: false}

In my research, there is a workaround for this issue. Maybe, you can have a try.

1.Sign in and close any instances of Microsoft Teams running.

2.Navigate to the following path: %userprofile%\appdata\Roaming\Microsoft\Teams

3.Create a json file called hooks.json

4.Use notepad editor, add the following line to the newly created file: {“enableProcessIntegrityLevel”: false}

5.Save and close the file.

6.Now, re-open Microsoft Teams and sign in.

The original question is about not loading the chatroom list and chats itself (other parts are working), not white blank windows.

Thanks, 'Tadd Bilby', the hooks file was exactly was causing the problem on my ubunut 22.04 too (teams v1.5), now I see content of the chat.
