Hello everyone. For some personal reason, I need to back up the registry on my Windows 10 computer. But how is that possible? I have no special skills in this matter. Can anyone help me with this? A friend of mine said that this job is very risky, that's why I don't want to make any mistakes.

    Hello @Timothy Lindenberg

Starting in Windows 10, version 1803, Windows no longer automatically backs up the system registry to the RegBack folder.

The Registry backup option has been disabled but not removed according to Microsoft. Administrators who would like to restore the functionality may do so by changing the value of a Registry key:

Open the Start menu, type regedit.exe, and select the Registry Editor entry from the list of results.
Navigate to the following key: HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Configuration Manager\
Right-click on Configuration Manager and select New > Dword (32-bit) Value.
    Name it EnablePeriodicBackup.
Double-click on it after creation and set its value to 1.
    Restart the PC.
Windows 10 will backup the Registry again from that point on.

Hope this helps with your query!

Thanks for replying. However, I already figured out the problem. Yesterday I searched around on Google and found this. It helps me to solve the problem. Hopefully, it will help others also.

Please note that you cannot rely on restore points.

Assume that there could be fire, flood, tornado, earthquake, tusami, hurricane, and other problems related to mother nature.

In addition to using regedit there are other methods to safeguard data:

    a) backup files to another disk drive
    b) backup files to the cloud
    c) make free or pay backup images and save the images to another disk drive or the cloud
    d) for Regback see this link:

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/137565-enable-automatic-backup-system-registry-when-restart-windows-10-a.html

For free and / or pay backup image software:

    Acronis
    Aoemi
    EaseUS
    Macrium
    Paragon
    etc.
