Exchange 2019 Public Folders Age Limits

Hi,

I'm currently auditing our public folders with a view to clearing out unwanted old email.
As part of the process I have applied new age limits to all of the folders in the hierarchy.

My query is regarding the process of applying the age limits to folder items.

Having applied an age limit of 180 days to a folder two days ago, I am still seeing no change in the contents of the folder.
There are items in there were created in 2017.

I am assuming MRS is running continuously so would've expected the contents to have been moved to the folder deleted items by now?

Any advice on how to troubleshoot this please?

Thanks

IS Maint and aging those out would only typically run overnight - even in the newer versions of Exchange from what Ive seen. I would give some more time.

Are you running backups or anti malware scans overnight?

It's been around a week since I last looked at the current PF stats.
The public folder mailbox sizes have decreased quite significantly, and most of the folders now have contents in line with their respective age limits.
A handful of the folders however are still hanging on to mail items well outside of the folder age limit, which I find really bizarre.
