Had been running since Windows 98 a software program that stayed running in Win 7, Win 8 and Windows 10, up until the latest Windows 10 update. That program will now open to the 1st screen, and that's it. It is able to run perfectly fine in Sandboxie, so I don't understand why it stopped running in it's installed directory.

Try run the program in the compatibility mode:

    Hi there,

Your best bet would be to run the program in Compatibility mode. Please be advised that most programs created for earlier versions will either run poorly or not at all in Windows 10 since the coding and functionality that made them run in older versions are no longer supported in the latest version and build.

The most common way to deal with this kind of situation though is to use virtualization software to create a virtual computer within Windows and install a copy of Windows 98 in that. There are free versions of VMware Player and Virtual Box, possibly others, which you can install in Windows 10 Home edition.
