20H2 update failed - error 0xc1900223

Hi,
So last month this problem occurred. Now it says that there are important missing security and quality fixes. I tried to download via mediacreationtool, which failed as well. Now I'm having a touchpad problem and I think it might be connected to this. I want to get this problem solved. Can anyone help me?

Thanks for your posting on Q&A.

Please help to confirm whether the computer could connect to the Internet or not. If so, please click the Check online updates from Microsoft Update option to install the missing important updates from the Internet first.

If the computer could not connect to the internet, please open the RUN and print the winver to review the OS version first. Please share the screenshot on this forum to help us research further.

Hi @ed

The error: 0xc1900223 is related to a compability hold to offer newer FU. You can find more information on what is causing this block can be found infile: CompatData_***.xml which is located in: $Windows~BT\sources\panther

This folder is hidden in C: drive. Please uncheck the option to not show hidden folders.

When this file does not show the gated block it will be necessary to check the Setupact.log This log is located in same folder. Please share the full log for additional help.

I recommend to zip the file and upload to a shared service like OneDrive

The computers should have this option if there is no group policy prevent. Please share the registry value for reference first:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU

the value for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate is default
the value for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU is default and NoAutoRebootWithLoggedOnUsers set to 1.
