Android Devices not syncing with Intune

I have about 70 Android devices enrolled on Intune / Microsoft Endpoint Manager, all are exactly the same hardware, running the same O/S version. I am using the Corporate Owned Dedicated Device (CODD) enrolment profile.

I noticed from Intune today that about 20 devices are showing their last Check-in as September (i.e. about 2 months ago).

I have checked with the end user of one of these devices to make sure it's online, and it is (can access Internet etc.) I have asked them to reboot, and also Sync from the Intune app from within Android, but this hasn't made any difference (still showing last login as 2 months ago).

From Intune I can't reboot (just says pending), and it's showing that the configuration profile is also "pending".

There is no Sync option for the device which I believe to be down to the fact I'm using a CODD profile (usually this option would be available from the Device Overview).

Any ideas what's happening here and how I can force a sync please?

    Hi,

    Thanks for your reply.

==>Do you know what makes a device go stale - is it simple lack of use? And if so, why doesn't it come back online after it is turned on again?

The setting is defined in the Devices > Compliance Policies > Compliance policy settings > Compliance status validity period (days), it will apply to all managed devices, and are evaluated as "Built -in Device Compliance Policy". By default, the period is set to 30 days. You can configure a period from 1 to 120 days.

You can view details about device compliance to the validity period setting. Sign in to Microsoft Endpoint Manager admin center and go to Devices > Monitor > Setting compliance. This setting has a name of Is active in the Setting column. I think it's based on the last check-in date of the device.

    Refer to:Compliance policy settings

    Thanks for your time.

    Best regards,
    Simon

    Hi,

Thanks for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.

It seem like that the problematic devices cannot connect Intune because of network problem or any other reasons. Please help check if you have configured Device clean-up rules under Device option. If possible, please retire one problematic Android device and re-enroll it to have a try.

Please help share the of device status and device clean-up rules screenshots for further troubleshooting. As shown below:

    Hi, thanks for the response.

It may need a clean-up to resolve, but I'm quite concerned if 20 devices out of 70 can go stale within the space of a few months of their initial enrolment - ideally I'd need a better solution for devices which I know are still active.

Do you know what makes a device go stale - is it simple lack of use? And if so, why doesn't it come back online after it is turned on again?
