Virtual Machine License regarding

Question

I am having 8 users windows 2019 standard sever licences product key for 8 physical servers.

If I want to create 4 more Virtual Machine, can I use the same product key of 8 physical server product key?

Can I use one windows 2019 OS standard server product key for one physical server and two virtual machine?

For one 16 core standard edition licence I can use either (2 physical server) or (1 physical server and 1 Virtual Machine) or ( 2 Virtual Machine) only.

Assuming the host has no more than 16 cores then this is enough to license a single physical host one time. On that host you can install hyper-v role (no other roles) and then stand up two virtual machines.

Some general info

• Each host needs to be licensed.
• A minimum of 8 core licenses is required for each physical processor and a minimum of 16 core licenses is required for each server.
• Core licenses are sold in packs of two.
• Standard Edition provides rights for up to 2 Operating System Environments or Windows Servers containers with Hyper-V isolation when all physical cores in the server are licensed. For each additional 1 or 2 VMs, all the physical cores in the server must be licensed again.
• DataCenter Edition provides rights for unlimited Operating System Environments or Windows Servers containers with Hyper-V isolation when all physical cores in the server are licensed.
