Size not available error, the size is currently unavilable in southcentralus

I am trying to create a VM and use this size, but it keeps showing up as unavailable under my account.

It’s been like this for weeks.

I’ve been trying to do self-paced courses to prepare for cert and this problem doesn’t seem to be going away.

Id suggest using a corporate subscription if your employer will let you train in a sandbox. Otherwise MS doesn’t seem to care.

Getting free tier resources doesn’t seem to be a problem at other CSPs. What’s going on MS?

Many people have reported better luck with Australia, which may be a good starting point for education projects. I'll be sure to update the sticky post as more information becomes available.

Using a corporate subscription is a good option if you have one available to you. We are working very hard to resolve the issue and we will be sure to update the sticky post as more information becomes available. I have been having the same issue for quite sometime.
But, finally was able to create a VM in Central US.
Not guaranteed but give it a try. If not available try other regions as well.
you may find one or the other for sure.

You may find that some VM sizes are unavailable as there is currently high demand for VMs in certain regions (this is especially true for free account VM sizes). The solution is to create your VM resources in neighboring regions during these periods of high demand. If you are having trouble finding a region, please create a thread here on Microsoft Q&A and we will be happy to assist you.

What this looks like
There are two scenarios that are being reported. Both of these are due to high VM demand in certain regions that may result in some VM sizes being unavailable.

No VM images are available from the dropdown giving an "The value must not be empty" error.

Attempting to select B1s results in the NotAvailableForSubscription error.

What is Microsoft doing to avoid capacity issues in the future?
Ensuring capacity for our customers is a top priority for Microsoft and we are working around the clock to deliver on this. The increasing demand for Azure services is evidence of the popularity of Azure, and emphasizes the need to scale up our infrastructure even more rapidly. With that in mind, we are expediting expansion and are improving our resource deployment process to respond to this strong customer demand. We have identified several improvements on how we load-balance under a high resource usage situation, and how to trigger the timely deployment of needed resources. Furthermore, we are increasing our capacity significantly – and will continue to plan for strong customer demand across all of our regions. Yes, B1 is available for the free trial account although right now we are seeing very high demand and availability has been limited. Some people have reported success with Australia East as a region. You can find more details in this post:

It would be pretty darn user friendly if this information was presented to the user in the resource creation portal, rather than just giving them a dead end dropdown.

Also, maybe suggest a region where those resources are available?

Hello @Anonymous , I'm getting this error message in Pay-As-You-Go Subscription. And I have tried to create VM in East Us, East US2, South Central US, West Us 1, 2, 3 and SouthEast Asia.

Hi, mine is a CSP account. Encounter error with Southeast Asia region, all VM sizes are unavailable. I cannot choose other region as it needs to be in the same region as my current workload.

For CSP accounts you'll need to contact your CSP (as they are responsible for providing customer service for your account and will be able to take next steps).

Hello,
I am having the same issue with a newly created azure account. For a standard D2 most regions are unavailable. Some work such as Australia, Sweden, North Europe...
However if I use an existing azure account I can create a VM in any region I want.
Looking at the suggestions above it must be something with the new account. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Sorry for the inconvenience, we are currently prioritizing existing subscriptions over newly-created subscriptions in that region. Since you are an existing customer, you can request that your new subscription(s) be enabled for your preferred region – these are reviewed and approved on a case by case basis. Please create a new support request - select an issue type of 'Service and subscription limits (quotas)", the relevant subscription and resource quota type.

This article describes how to resolve errors when a SKU isn't available in an Azure subscription's region or availability zones. Examples of resource SKUs are virtual machine (VM) size or storage account types. Errors occur during deployments with an Azure Resource Manager template (ARM template) or Bicep file. The error also occurs with commands like New-AzVM or az vm create that specify a size parameter for a SKU that's not available.

Now I just wanna clarify, because I'm don't have any other existed subscription I have no chance to create free compute resources?

We're working on adding more information to the site sticky but people have reported being able to create VMs on free accounts in less popular regions like Australia. It depends on how popular a region is at the moment though, so it may be worthwhile to check different areas.

I am really frustrated on it and want to give up Azure.
The $200 voucher only last for 1 month but I cannot create the VM to learb
I have tried to create in West US, West EU, SEA.

Are there any web site I could find which region I can create?

We have had people report success with free accounts on less used regions like Australia. You can see what regions are available for specific SKUs for your subscription using az vm list-skus:
