Hello,

I need to create a local group called Everyone on a domain joined Windows Server 2016 Standard server.

When I try to create the group using: "net localgroup Everyone /add" I get the error "The account already exists"

When I try to delete the group using: "net localgroup Everyone /delete" I get the error "System error 1376 has occurred. The specified local group does not exist."

How can I create this group please?

Thank you,
Ryan

May need to ask for help here in vmware forums. Everyone group is a special identity group and already exists.

Also note it says This is a known issue affecting ESXi 6.0 This issue is resolved in ESXi 6.0 Update 1

Everyone group is a special identity group so you cannot change it.

    Pick another name.

Everyone is a built-in security principal.

    Hello @MotoX80 and @Dave Patrick

I'm trying to create the group and add my domain user to the group in order to install VMWare Tools which is failing as recommended by: https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2114476

    Thank you,

    Hello all,

    Thank you for your responses.

In the end fully manually removing the VMware Tools then installing them as fresh did the trick.

Fully manually removed them following: https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/82649

    Thank you,
    Ryan
