Hello

WinPE:
I'm confused about the repository for WinPE. WinPE optional components become available when you install the Windows Preinstallation Environment with the Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit (ADK). Starting with Windows 10, version 1809, WinPE is an addon to the ADK that you download and install after you install the ADK.

WinRE:
There's a guide, to use language packs and OCs from the "Languages and Optional Features ISO", not from the Windows 10 ADK, to localize WinRE. I have the ISO and there's a folder "Windows Preinstallation Environment" that I use to localize WinRE.

Question for WinPE:
Can I use the packages from the "Languages and Optional Features ISO" for WinPE or does it need to be from the ADK kit? I have downloaded the "Windows 10 ISO" and on the boot.wim image there are packages that aren't in the ADK kit but i can find them in the "Language and OCs ISO".

I got the "Windows 10, version 2004 or later Language Pack ISO" from this link:

    Hi @Suryavarman-II

You need to use the ones from the ISO instead of the ADK. As explained in this article:

    Reference: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/manufacture/desktop/add-language-packs-to-windows?view=windows-11#add-languages-to-the-recovery-environment-windows-re

    Extract:

"For any language you add to Windows, add the language to the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE), whenever possible.

Not all languages or LIPs have localized recovery images.

Use languages from the Languages and Optional Features ISO, not from the Windows 10 ADK, to localize WinRE."

Hope this helps with your query,

    WinPE:
I found out, that it's possible to use the packages from the "Languages and Optional Features ISO", which is used to localize WinRE.
