Can't Sign Into Microsoft Account on Windows 11 Local User

Hello all,

I am running Windows 11 signed into a Local User account which is my main user account.

I cannot sign into a Microsoft Account through any of the appropriate apps such as the Microsoft Store and Xbox. Clicking the sign-in button on any of these apps appears to make the app flash and reload.

I suspect this is probably something like a Windows Service that isn't running, but I've checked all the ones I feel are appropriate.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your time in replying.

    Things you can try:

-Switch to Microsoft account from local account using this guide.
-Add a Microsoft account as an email account under Settings > Accounts > Email & accounts.
-Try creating a new user account as Microsoft account.

    Hi there,

You can try to perform a clean boot in Windows and see if the app behaves properly. A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs so that you can determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program.

If this issue still persists I would suggest you run a repair upgrade to sort this out as there might be some corrupted registries that cause the apps to crash.
