How can I predict using SCOM that agent is going to be greyed out?

Hi,

Maybe my question is lame, but I thought let's give a try :)

I want to monitor my agents in a way that I can predict if any computer is going to be greyed out. Is there any way or dashboard that I can use?

    Hi @Pauciloquent ,

As far as I know there's no way to predict when a SCOM agent will become grayed out. You can of course predict if the agent is using certificates which are going to expire at a certain time, or if your organisation has a planned maintenance which you know may cause agents to become either Critical or grayed out.

Gray means that the agent stopped communicating, which can happen for many reasons; most of which I really don't see how you can predict...

    Hi,
I can only confirm what both Leon and Cyril already stated. In order to understand what actually an "greyed out" agent is, I will encourage you to read those:

    Hope this was of help!

    Hi,

Agree with all of the above. We can predict a potential failure via the trend, however, we cannot predict an accident, for example, the agent computer is shutdown, the network cable is unplugged, etc.

When the agent is grayed out, we may follow the articles that StoyanChalakov has mentioned for the trouble-shooting.

    Hope the above information helps.
