Hi Team,

Next week we are planning to upgrade one of our PROD Azure SQL DB (Size:3.2 TB) to Hyperscale.

  1. Upgrade to Hyperscale took around 2-3 hrs
  2. Create a secondary replica. (Primary West US and Secondary East US)

My doubt is Are we going to face any application connectivity issue1 & 2 (Like any application downtime or slow response)

    1) At least you will only experience a short period of downtime, generally a few minutes, during the final cutover to the Hyperscale service tier.

    2) The replica keeps in sync with the primary via the transaction log service, and it may impact performance of write workloads on the primary. In case of a failover, during failover applications may experience minimal downtime due to active connections being dropped.
