Hello,
My problems include basically everything that word does. It won't save my chosen selections, instead chooses to go back to the older version every time. It almost seems as though there are two programs working at the same time. I will click the top of the screen to home, and the dropdown appears, I change the font. Then I click on the new document page, and the font is not the same as I chose. I have gone in and changed the main default area, and still. It. Doesn't. Stay. The. way. I. pick. it. to. be.
I am a member due to being a student, and this is necessary for my assignments due asap. Please tell me how to update my word.

Instead of applying a font in the middle of typing, modify the default. If you are running Word for Windows, you can change the default font in the Font dialog box (Ctrl+Shift+F). Choose the font and size you want for (most of) the text and click the Set as Default button. You can choose the option to modify the current document, only.

    Hi @Leslie, Paula

Please refer to StefanBlom-6438's reply to have a check.

It's recommended to take some screenshots to show more details, this can help us better analysis.

I would also suggest you modify the Normal.dotm to have a check.

    • Please close all the files of Office and go to File explorer > View in Show/hide group > check the box of "Hidden Items".
    • Go to C:\Users\<user name >\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates, then find the Normal.dotm.
    • You can rename it to be Normal1.dotm as a backup (This file will store some Word settings, if you need to restore them later, you can use it again). Then there will be a new Normal.dotm automatically generated when reopen Word.
    • Go back and find this file, right click it, choose "Open".
    • Change the font or other settings for this file. Please note, check the document name at the top to make sure it's a global template “Normal.dotm".
