When will Azure Front door support apex domain hosted in Azure DNS?

After the Front Door product was updated to the Standard/Premium it seems an apex domain hosted in Azure DNS can no longer be used by Azure Front Door (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/frontdoor/standard-premium/how-to-add-custom-domain#add-a-new-custom-domain).

Is there a roadmap for when this would be supported?

I understand that you would like to use Apex domain hosted in Azure DNS with Azure Front Door Standard/Premium and want to know if this will be supported.

I discussed this feature requirement with the Azure Front Door Product Group team and looks like they are already working on this feature and the current ETA for it's support release is end of June 2022 (may change depending upon the complexity of the feature enablement).

You would not be able to track the progress for this feature as it is being worked on an internal work item. However, you can keep an eye on the Azure updates page to check when the support for Apex domain hosted in Azure DNS with Azure Front Door Standard/Premium goes on preview or GA (generally available).

In AFD Classic there's a limit of 20 APEX domains. Is there a limit in in AFD Standard/Premium ?

Apex domain is custom domain, and use the same limit as described in the below doc:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-resource-manager/management/azure-subscription-service-limits#azure-front-door-standard-and-premium-tier-service-limits

For AFD Classic, the limit is 500.

Hi Gita,

When I add an apex domain, I use alias record in Azure DNS. There's a limit of 20 alias records per Azure resource (i,e apex domains per Azure Fornt Door): https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-resource-manager/management/azure-subscription-service-limits#azure-dns-limits

Do you know if that limit will change ?

As of now, we don't have any updates on when the limit on Azure DNS alias records will change.
