Hello, i just bought a used gaming laptop from a person, he has used the laptop for 5 months, according to him, windows did not come pre installed with the laptop and a known person to him installed it for him afterwards.
Now the part that concerns me is i want to first make sure this windows is legit, legal and lifetime and secondly, its only accessible by me, meaning the previous owner has no connection with the laptop, windows as i am a bit worried he might have access to my windows as in settings it says windows is activated with a digital license linked to your microsoft account, and the previous owners microsoft account is currently connected. does that mean he has access to the windows somehow???
running the slmgr command shows that windows is
1). license status: licensed
2). remaining windows rearm count: 1001
3). Product key channel: OEM:DM

From cmd.exe run slmgr /dlv and check the License Status: shows Licensed

i am a bit worried he might have access to my windows

The simplest / safest solution is to clean install it, but make sure you get the product key from the seller.

    Please consider the following steps:

    1) Make free backup images of the disk drive and save to another disk drive or the cloud

(Acronis, Aoemi, EaseUS, Macrium, Paragon, etc.)

    2) Clean install Windows 10

    3) Install drivers from the computer or motherboard manufacturer websites

    4) Install any remaining drivers from the component manufacturer websites

    5) Install applications

With this installation you currently have the cleanest installation.

It it activated without problems then it should have no licensing issues.

If there was any pirated or cracked Microsoft Windows software you can restore a backup image and return the computer or request a retail non pirated or cracked license.

Now you can add each a password and pin.

And if you want additional protections you can use facial recognition and or fingerprints.

You can use a local or Microsoft account.

    Hello DheerajEngineer,

Regarding the activation, if SMLGR is stated as licensed then the activation is correct. As I can see from the output this is a OEM installation, meaning that the activation is provided by the manufacturer of the computer, based on the hardware install signatures.

Regarding the issue of the external acces:
-For seeing if the user is connected (no only signed on session left) you can run the next command: QUERY SESSION
-To fully logoff any users in the computer, create a .BAT file with the next inside, which will detect sessions active and then log them off

    query session >session.txt
    for /f "skip=2 tokens=3," %%i in (session.txt) DO logoff %%i
    del session.txt

Last but not least, you can access Windows Settings and users and Accounts, and then:
-Create a new user with Admin rights for yourself
    -Disable the Administrator (built-in) account
-Delete or reset password of other users that you don't use
