Is there a general problem with WSUS servers that prevents update import?

Hi Microsoft.

I administer WSUS from day 1 (2002 or so) and I often import updates into WSUS using the GUI.
This worked until recently. Now it throws an error 80131509 ("some updates could not be imported"), no matter what update I choose and no matter on which WSUS server. i tried on server 2016 and on server 2012 R2, both fail. Administrators from the german forum administrator.de did confirm these findings:

Please investigate and correct that.

    Thanks for your posting on Q&A.

    This issue did occur currently. We could try the following steps to resolve this issue:

    Open CMD as an administrator and then enter the following command: 

    reg add HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\.NETFramework\v4.0.30319 /V SchUseStrongCrypto /T REG_DWORD /D 1

    After doing the above, we could try to import the updates again.

    I'm sorry for this issue to happen. In fact, this issue is not related to the WSUS and it more related to the Microsoft Update Catalog. There is no official explanation for this issue currently. We may need more time to wait for an official explanation.
