Macbook pro 16 inch Copy - Paste causes Microsoft RDP failure

I'm using a MacBook Pro 16 inch with Apple M1 Pro running on MacOS Monterey 12.4 and I use MS RDP Version 10.7.7 (2001). (although this issue is happening since several months now)
On a daily base we use MS RDP to access our applications in the 'cloud' on Terminal servers. Several times a day we face an issue with MS RDP which happens after copying simple text phrases or a string of text phrases and attempting to paste this in a local application or even in the RDP session. What happens is MacOS will show the 'beachball' and both the local application and the MS RDP application seem to 'freeze'. After force quitting the MS RDP Application the local MacOS application (often MS Excel because I use this a lot but this not only limited to MS Excel!) will become available again.

We've waited a long time (several months now) for a fix but so far nothing ... Several colleagues of us with the same config (hardware and software) are having the same issue, so it seems we're not alone. Can anyone please help us out, this is very frustrating.
(I started using 'rdweb/webclient/' instead of a native MacOS APP and that works fine but lacks functions which are not available yet which are available in MS RDP)

I have the exact same problem on both iMac and MacBook Pro, latest 12.6. The problem was there in MacOS 11 also.

I have tried MS RDP beta as well.

I have to force quit MS RDP and start over.
