MFA and Access to mailboxes if needed ?

I'm going to deploy MFA on our Office 365 end users but before I do I have some questions.
When users are away for vacation / illness etc., the bosses want to be able to access employees email in order to process requests. Right now they have the access with passwords for the users mail boxes and so do the admins of office.
If MFA is implemented how can they or the admin of the office 365 mailbox gain access without the "phone" Authenticator “or whatever in hand?

Is there a way around this ?

    Hi @John B

This can be done by delegating access to a mailbox. If this is required, you can do this through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center. As a delegate, they do not need to authenticate to the mailbox with any password/MFA.

How do I access the mailbox (Enterprise, Midsize, Education)

After you grant delegation to someone (for another person's mailbox) -- it will show up in their Outlook as another mailbox (in Outlook or OWA).
