Hello Annika,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community and I'll be glad to assist you today.
I understand that you are having trouble resetting your Windows Hello PIN on the Sign in screen.
- Did this issue happen after the latest Windows updates?
- Did you make any recent changes to your Computer?
- Are you able to switch the sign-in option from PIN to Microsoft account password?
If you are unable to sign in, we will need to boot the PC in a Windows recovery environment to repair the Operating system. To boot the PC in WinRE, follow the steps:
- On the Windows sign-in screen, press and hold the Shift key while you select Power > Restart.
- After your PC restarts to the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options.
(See the image below for reference)
- Try repairing your computer using the System Restore method, which restores your PC to an earlier point in time.
- If System Restore fails, perform a Startup Repair.
- Open Command Prompt and run the following commands:
Type sfc /scannow and press Enter.
Type chkdsk c: /f and press Enter.
- Boot the PC in Safe Mode and either delete the NGC folder or create a new user
account.
If all recovery options fail, try resetting your PC without affecting your files from the recovery environment screen.
I hope this information helps. If you have any questions, please let me know and I will be happy to help you further.
Best regards,
Gunasekar N
