How to change a "work/school" account to "personal"

Hi,

I've been trying to link my personal Microsoft account to my corporate Microsoft Learn profile, but it keeps saying it's a work/school account, which is wrong.

I don't remember ever being asked for an account type, when registering my account back in the day and I can't find a setting to change this.

So, how can I change my account to personal?

Does this even matter, say: is there a difference in functionality for me, the account being a "work/school account"?

I just want my learning achievements to be visible in my personal account.

Please don't just tell me to open a new MS account for personal use, that's absolutely no option.

Cheers,

Sven

    Hello

I am Abdal and I would be glad to help you with your question.

You can't change your account type from work/school to personal. Once an account is created as a work/school account, it can't be changed.

However, you can still link your personal Microsoft account to your corporate Microsoft Learn profile. To do this, follow these steps:

Log in to Learn by using your work or school (AAD) account credentials. Navigate to the "settings" page within your Learn profile. In the Account management section, proceed to delete your existing personal account (MSA). Click on "Add account" and sign in using your personal account (MSA) associated with your Certification Profile. Log out of Microsoft Learn. Sign back into Microsoft Learn using your recently added personal account (MSA).

Your personal Microsoft account will now be linked to your corporate Microsoft Learn profile. Your learning achievements will now be visible in your personal Microsoft account.

You can also refer the below article for more information https://learn.microsoft.com/certifications/aligning-accounts-between-certification-profile-and-learn-profile

Here are some of the differences between work/school accounts and personal accounts:

Work/school accounts are managed by your organization, while personal accounts are managed by you. Work/school accounts have access to certain features and services that personal accounts don't, such as Microsoft Teams and Office 365. Personal accounts can be used for anything, while work/school accounts are typically used for work-related tasks.

    I hope this information helps.

    Regards,

    Abdal
