OneDrive - Sort pictures by date taken

Hi everyone,

As my phone storage is coming to an end soon, I want to upload some of my pictures to OneDrive.

I already created some folders on my phone with the same structure as in OneDrive.

However, when uploading those pictures, I do not get the same sorting as on my phone. Even though I mark all pictures in the folder at the same time, OneDrive seems to upload them in an arbitrary order. As I want to include pictures that I took myself and WhatsApp pictures in the same folder, sorting them by file name will not be a solution. Therefore, I tried sorting them via date, but OneDrive uses the upload date which does not work, as it uploads all the pictures in an arbitrary order.

Is there a workaround for my problem? I already checked online, but did not find a proper solution.

I found some other discussions on this topic here as well, but they did not come to a proper conclusion.

Unfortunately, that does not solve my problem. I am aware that OneDrive uses the order of the upload. Therefore, I am looking for a solution to upload pictures in the same order as on my phone.

Let me give you a specific example:

I created a folder on my phone for pictures from 2018. This folder contains all pictures from 2018 that I want to upload to OneDrive and I do not intend to make some later changes to this folder.

I select all pictures in this folder and upload them to OneDrive. However, the order of pictures uploaded is completely arbitrary.

Like:

Picture A (WhatsApp picture)- Date taken: 1st January 2018

Picture B (Own picture) - Date taken: 2nd January 2018

Picture C (WhatsApp picture) - Date taken: 3rd January 2018

Picture D (Own picture) - Date taken: 4th January 2018

The uploaded structure looks completely different when sorting them by oldest pictures:

It is bad enough that OneDrive does not have an option to sort files/pictures by date taken because the information is uploaded to OneDrive as well.

I would be happy, if I can control the order of pictures being uploaded, but it seems like that OneDrive uploads pictures in alphabetical order.

Is there a way to upload pictures in the same order that I have on my phone folder which is date taken?
